My name is Soraya and I have been a member of PACE (a charity supporting people with many types of disabilities to access sport, particularly Boccia) for many years. I enjoy joining in with the activities whenever I can. This has helped me get more confident and improve my communication skills. I like playing Boccia and doing gym exercises when I am free. I have also joined PACE members on a visit to Gunnersbury Park where we had an opportunity to do boating but I did
not feel like it so I went for a walk. PACE also attends Hanwell Carnival and Norwood Green Village Day where we have a tent promoting our charity and have activities such as face painting and Henna. There is a lucky dip game as well!! All monies raised go to help the charity which I’m very proud of!!
My main hobby is art which do at home as well as attend classes at Mencap in Willesden and WM College in Camden Town. I also used to attend an0ther class at Ashford Place, in Cricklewood but had to leave as I was offered a paid part time job. I am working at ONE PADDINGTON SQUARE. My employers are Principal Cleaning Services. They are an excellent company with whom I am in my second year of employment. The management and my team are always there to support me if required, I am very happy there. On Downs Syndrome Awareness Day my company gives me a table in the reception area where I put my artwork for sale and all the companies and their staff in this office block were made aware of Downs Syndrome.
Below on the top row is some of my artworw and a picture of a letter I received from Buckingham Palace on behalf of the late Her Majesty the Queen when I sent her best wishes on her Platinum Jubilee.
