PACE Charitable Trust is delighted to celebrate the achievement of five dedicated volunteers who have successfully completed the Boccia Level 1 Referee Course.
The course provided a comprehensive introduction to the role of a Boccia referee, equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to officiate matches and support the continued growth of the sport. Throughout the training, volunteers explored the fundamental rules of boccia, gained an understanding of the equipment used by referees, and learned how to apply the regulations fairly and consistently during competition.
A key part of the course focused on identifying and managing the various fouls and violations that can occur during play. Volunteers were guided through different scenarios and the appropriate outcomes, including situations that may result in the retraction of a ball, penalty balls being awarded, or yellow card offences. The training emphasised the importance of maintaining fairness, accuracy, and professionalism while ensuring that matches are conducted in accordance with the rules of the game.
By completing the course, our volunteers have taken an exciting first step on their refereeing journey. Their commitment to learning new skills not only strengthens the support available to Boccia players but also helps develop opportunities for the sport within our community.
